Volunteer Opportunities

TBS needs your help! We want to expand our efforts to spread bluebirds across Texas, but we need “a few good bluebirders” to make it happen. TBS has no paid positions—our programs, services, and products depend on your generous donations of time, effort, and money.

Volunteer positions may be short term, for specific events or activities, or ongoing programs.

Event Program Coordinator

Event program coordinator to be responsible for managing inventory and staffing for all “One Nestbox” events. See detailed responsibilities.

Event Booth Coordinator

Event booth coordinator to work with Booth Program Coordinator to be responsible for all coordinating activities for a specific event. See detailed responsibilities.

Event Booth Staffer

Event booth staffer to man booth as scheduled at “One Nestbox” Event to exchange a membership form and payment for a nestbox; and, talk about bluebirds and TBS organization with attendees. (Knowledge about bluebirds is not necessary). See our upcoming events for volunteering opportunities.

Computer Specialist

Renewals Coordinator

Renewals coordinator to sort membership database monthly/quarterly and prepare mail merged renewal letters. Needs to know Excel and Word 2007.

Map Coordinator

Map coordinator to update TBS Volunteer Map monthly using Access and Excel 2007 and HTML.

Resource Documents Editor

Documents editor to update TBS Resources documents and create PDFs. Needs to know Publisher and Word 2007.

CPA

CPA to review TBS financial records in Quick Books at year end and give occasional pro bono advice to the Treasurer or Board.

Elementary Educator

Elementary educator to create short game for annual Texas Parks and Wildlife EXPO to go with Nest & Egg Display that can be played by large groups.

Handyperson

Handyperson to build five sample Sparrow Spookers for “One Nestbox” event booths. See sialis.org building instructions.

Graphic Artist

Graphic artist to create documents (e.g., brochures and fliers) as needed.

Silent Auction Coordinator

Silent Auction Coordinator to organize auction event for the October Annual Meeting in Austin area. Responsibilities include gathering items and bringing them to event.

Woodcrafters

Assistant

Build nestbox one at a time as needed.

Assistant

Rip and detail front panel for nestboxes in batches of 250 according to specifications.

Assistant

Located west of Abilene to assist in assembly construction of nestboxes.
